Some of our favourite local beaches...

Soar Mill cove beach

Literally just down the road from the cottage, this beach is unspoiled, never crowded and a truly beautiful spot. With turquoise waters, its like being in the Mediterranean. Extremely sheltered due to the cove, the beach is perfect for couples and families looking to escape the busy beaches.

This spectacular beach is where James spent his childhood.

When the tide is out the beach tripples in size and creates the most amazing shallow pools of water. Perfect for kids to play in.

When the tide turns and starts coming in, it is a hot spot for surfers and other water sports.

Hope Cove beach

The beach is very popular with families. It has a well protected beach and a lovely little pub called Hope and Anchor for lunch.

Thurlestone sands

Thurlestone Sands is the larger of the two beaches.  It is a family friendly, sandy beach and has many rock pools. Occasionally, the south-westerly swell produces some big surf. There is an arch-shaped rock formation just offshore in Thurlestone Bay which we enjoy canoeing out to.

South and north sands

South Sands is famous for its sea-tractor and colourful ferry which take their passangers from South Sands to the centre of Salcombe. Both North Sands and South Sands are beautiful beaches with turquoise waters giving it a Mediterranean feel.
